Keirin Trophy Competition Athletes Include:
The centrepiece of a fantastic racing programme
The centrepiece of the racing programme will be a daily 5-race Japanese Keirin Trophy competition. This will culminate in a final at 6.30pm on Thursday and Friday and 7.30pm on the Saturday. Keirin is an explosive track event, focused on an intense 750m sprint finish in which tiny margins mean everything and battle tactics are ruthlessly employed to secure pole position.
A field of star riders
The World Cycling Revival Festival are thrilled to announce a field of star riders, including current and former UCI Keirin World Champions. All riders will be racing on standardised, vintage replica Condor bikes, so the Keirin Trophy Competition will be true test of the athletes’ ability, tactics and resolve.
Authentic Steel-Framed Bikes Made By Condor Cycles
Condor Cycles are building authentic steel-framed replica bikes similar to those used by Tom Simpson, Dave Bonner and Hugh Porter at Herne Hill Velodrome in the 1950s and 60s. These specifically designed flying machines are being built using authentic Japanese components and all competitors will race on the same bicycles. Lookout for this special edition bike in the window of Condor Cycles, Gray’s Inn Road, between now and June.
