Japanese Keirin Racing was first seen on the tracks of Japan immediately post the 2nd World War around 1948, when it was developed as a betting sport to raise funds for the Japanese Government
It has gone on to become the 2nd most popular betting sport in Japan and remains hugely popular today. To celebrate the era of the Festival (the 1940’s) and this terrifically exciting event, the Revival organisers have contracted many of the World’s leading Keirin riders to participate in this daily competition at the Festival which will feature 5 of these races every day.
Six time World Champion, Francois ’’The French Samurai’’ Pervis and the ‘’Pocket Rocketman’’ 2017 World Champion, Azizul Awang join a fabulous international field littered with household names including Jon Mould, Germain Burton, Josh Hartmann and Ed Clancy who will all, care of race sponsors Condor, be riding 1950’s replica steel bikes with Japanese augmented parts in a daily competition.
Patrons will be able to bet on the outcome of each Keirin race care of betting partner Fitzdares, adding to the crowds’ fun and excitement at the Festival
